Warragamba township in the Northern sector of the Shire is home to the mighty Warragamba Dam supplying the bulk of Sydney’s drinking water supply. Many locals are employed by SWCA at the Dam. A small industrial estate at Warragamba ensures the prosperity of this township. Main street businesses include supermarket, takeaways, bargain shop, pharmacy, post office, liquor and video stores. Many home based businesses and services trade well including building, rural and gardening supplies. A new $7 million conference and Visitor Centre is currently under construction which complements the Warragamba Workers Club which is a hub for social contact for the local community. Primary school students attend Warragamba Primary School with secondary education via Penrith high schools.
