Oakdale is serviced by a small shopping centre with local services such as groceries, beauty care and takeaway. Oakdale Post Office is situated on the main street near the Primary School and there is also a caravan park and service station.
Horse riding and moto cross facilities offer recreational opportunities for the locals and Burragorang Valley Lookout at Nattai attracts much passing trade from tourists stocking up on picnic supplies and fuel.
NPWS have a depot at Nattai to service the bushland to the east with many locals employed by the Sydney Water Catchment Authority who manage the drinking water supplies in Lake Burragorang, which feeds Warragamba Dam to the north. The Oakdale Workers Club is a hub of local community.
